Hello everyone, I am pleased to announce the immediate availability of Alien Blitz (Android, full version) & Snorms 2.0 (PC). Alien Blitz is now available on Google Play Store!

Alien Blitz is now stable enough to be published on Google Play Store, it has been submitted yesterday and should now be available worldwide. Alien Blitz trailer (youtube)

I’ve just uploaded a trailer for Alien Blitz, it is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZG-_ncmw0U I am using the same music as Snorms trailers, I like it, and don’t want to buy another one at the moment I made the video using kdenlive, it’s easy to use, has lots of features, and is completely free. It’s my new favorite movie maker (I was using OpenShot Video Editor before, but there is a bug that adds unwanted frames after effects, and it bothered me too much as it’s a pain to get around it). The video was recorded on PC with a game controller (it’s easier to capture video on PC), using fraps.  ...

The first beta version of Alien Blitz is now publicly available ! Your island has been invaded by aliens during the night, take your shotgun, and kick them out! Alien Blitz is a top-view shooter available on Android with loads of weapons, maps and monsters. You play a soldier resting on his native island, but it is very quickly overrun by monsters from outer space and no outside help is available. New website layout

As you may have noticed microbasic.net has changed, new template, new content, new website The content is still being added slowly, most of the pages aren’t ready yet but the blog content has been kept. This will become the main entry point for all my projects: Snorms, Alien Blitz and upcoming ones. I’ve decided to buy a template from arcsin.se, they are quite cheap and quality/support is good, I’m happy with that. Snorms.com will be redirected here when it’s done, some parts of the old snorms.com will be kept for “compatibility” reasons....

Android !

Here’s a very nice screenshot:   This is Snorms running on my Nexus 7 tablet ! This is the very first capture of it, so it’s not playable at all right now, there’s no way to control anything or go into the menus yet, no music/sound and the frame-rate is horrible. But still, in only a few hours today I have managed to get the first version running, so it’s very good news! I must admit it’s also thanks to Slick Android Edition (SlickAE) that I could convert Snorms that fast, I still don’t know if I will continue using Slick2D, but at least I have something to work with. Changelog: I got rid of most of the java.awt dependencies, depending on the objects I had to create new ones (Color, Rectangle,…) or make some abstract class (for image loading) Lots of code refactoring, I...

Snorms top view

Quick update about the top view for Snorms ! Things are going pretty well, the top view makes new things possible that could be nice, here’s a screenshot of work in progress : I’ve used the swapco guy skin for the player, it’s pretty nice, I could use that sort of sprite, with walking animations and different sprites for guns, it could be pretty nice and would suit more my initial idea for the player skin. There are borders around sprites, currently I’ve added borders to all sprites, I will remove them for decorative sprites (lights and such) for others it’s nice I’ve removed the textures for tiles, I will bring them back later I did not change any map yet, so they still have too much height to be playable Light engine should be changed, so that lights don’t light walls (it was ok...

New plans !

Happy new year ! Bonne annĂ©e ! I’ve been thinking a lot lately about future games I would like to develop and I had a great idea for Snorms. Currently people who have been playing Snorms usually love the gameplay but not the graphics and the perspective view. Biggest problems with perspective view are : It’s difficult to render distance, I used brightness and dark borders to make things easier, but someone new will almost always be confused Movements are a bit tricky Graphics need to be adapted, and it’s quite hard to do So I’ve imagined what could Snorms look in a top view, and I must say it could be quite good : Graphics are a lot easier to do, as in top view you can just see the top of the monsters/players/… At first I will just use current graphics, but viewed...
